• have no previous construction apprenticeship
• are employed full time
• have less than a year’s experience
• are of any age

This is fully funded by CITB for ACAD members who are CITB levy payers.

Overview
The Specialist Upskilling Programme and On Site Assessment and Training are for operatives with more than one years’ experience of licensed Asbestos, those returning to our sector after a break or those who have benefited from a previous construction apprenticeship.

The critical step is the assessment of a candidate’s current competence by a trained ACAD Assessor. This highlights gaps in an individual’s competence including any training requirements across Asbestos and supportive disciplines.

If the training requirement is a minimum of 5 days, a bespoke SUP is created. 4 days or less leads down the OSAT route.

The programme culminates in the achievement of the Competence Qualification Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Removal of Hazardous Waste (Construction) – Licensed Asbestos competence qualification. This is assessed by our experienced, technical assessors UK wide at your sites meaing no lost days.

CITB grant support
CITB provide substantial grant support for levy payers depending on the route selected. OSAT receives at least £400 with SUP varying between £2,525 and £3,025.

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) are work-based qualifications which have been developed to recognise existing skills and knowledge to prove competence.  NVQ is ideal for operatives working within the industry who require an ACAD Skill Card and have experience but no formal qualifications.  They are open to anyone, regardless of age or previous learning or academic attainment.

Evidence is gained by on-site assessment carried out by ACAD assessors to verify the learner’s abilities and build a portfolio of evidence.  On-site assessment usually consists of a mix of observation and discussion, completion of work diaries and witness testimony.
