TICA Skill Card
TICA Skill Card
Construction Leadership Council (CLC) agreed that from January 2015 the industry, including trade associations, contractors, clients and government should specify and promote card schemes carrying the CSCS logo, with no equivalents accepted.
Employer members and operatives should apply for the relevant Skill Card online, by completing the application forms and uploading proof of qualifications and payment.

Physical Card – £36 (inc VAT)

All Skill Card applicants will automatically receive a Virtual Card free of charge.

TICA Replacement Skill Card
If you have lost your TICA Skill Card or it has been damaged you can purchase a replacement card here.
TICA Apprentice Card
Validity: 4 Years. No Renewal.
TICA apprentices who are currently registered for a Thermal Insulation Apprenticeship AND have passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives within the previous 2 years or the CCNSG Safety Passport .
TICA Experienced Worker Card
Validity: 1 Year. Non Renewable.
For experienced workers who have not completed the S/NVQ Thermal Insulation qualification or a TICA apprenticeship and who have missed the opportunity to join the scheme by Industry Accreditation (Grandfather Rights).
This card will be issued on receipt of proof that the applicant has successfully completed ONE of the following routes:
a) Registered and actively undertaking the L2 S/NVQ in Thermal Insulation with TICA
b) Registered and actively undertaking the L2 S/NVQ in Thermal Insulation with an alternative training provider
Following successful completion of the NVQ candidates must complete a TICA one day competency assessment. Operatives who registered and completed the L2 S/NVQ in Thermal Insulation with TICA will have already completed the competency assessment as part of their registration process and will not be required to re-sit the assessment as part of this TICA Skill Card application process.
You must also hold valid certificates in:
Asbestos Awareness
CCNSG Safety Passport OR
CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives (within the previous two years)
TICA Skilled Worker Card
Validity: 5 years. Renewable.
Issued on receipt of proof the applicant has successfully completed ONE of the following routes:
a) TICA L2 Thermal Insulation Apprenticeship
b) Thermal Insulation L2 S/NVQ AND L2 Thermal Insulation Technical Certificate
c) Thermal Insulation L2 S/NVQ AND successfully completed a TICA one day competency assessment. Operatives who registered and completed the L2 S/NVQ in Thermal Insulation with TICA will have already completed the competency assessment as part of their registration process and will not be required to re-sit the assessment as part of this TICA Skill Card application process.
You must also hold valid certificates in:
Asbestos Awareness
CCNSG Safety Passport OR
CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives (within the previous two years)
TICA Thermal Cover Measurer and Fitters Card
Validity: 5 years. Renewable.
Issued on receipt of proof the applicant has successfully completed the TICA Thermal Covers Measurement and Fitting course.
You must also hold valid certificates in:
Asbestos Awareness (TICA offer this for £15, click here if required)
You must also hold valid certificates in:
CCNSG Safety Passport OR
CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives (within the previous two years)
TICA Advanced Craft Card
Validity: 5 years. Renewable.
Issued on receipt of proof the applicant has successfully completed ONE of the following routes:
a) TICA L3 Thermal Insulation Apprenticeship including Fabrication
b) TICA Thermal Insulation L2 Apprenticeship which included Fabrication (Prior to 2017)
c) TICA L2 S/NVQ in Thermal Insulation with Fabrication unit (achieved prior to 31 August 2017)
You must also hold valid certificates in:
Asbestos Awareness
CCNSG Safety Passport OR
CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives (within the previous two years)
TICA Supervisor Card
Validity: 5 years. Renewable.
Issued on receipt of proof the applicant has successfully completed ONE of the following routes:
a) TICA L3 Thermal Insulation Apprenticeship
b) TICA Thermal Insulation L2 Apprenticeship AND L3 S/NVQ in Occupational Work Supervision
c) TICA L2 S/NVQ in Thermal Insulation AND L3 S/NVQ in Occupational Work Supervision
d) L2 S/NVQ in Thermal Insulation AND successfully completed a TICA one day competency assessment AND L3 S/NVQ in Occupational Work Supervision
You must also hold valid certificates in:
Asbestos Awareness
CITB SSSTS Test (with at least 6 months validity)

All application fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. If your application is incomplete or unacceptable you will be given 90 days to resolve any issues.
Any applications returned after 90 days will be subject to an additional £36.00 non-refundable fee.

TICA Competency Assessments
When applying for a TICA Skill Card one of the requirements is the provision of an S/NVQ Thermal Insulation qualification certificate. If these qualifications have NOT been awarded by TICA a further assessment is required to assure the competency of the applicant.
The 1 day Competency Assessments are held in Darlington at the National Training Centre and can be arranged by calling 03333 237751.
The cost of the test is £420 (inc VAT).
In the event of a failure a full training needs analysis is carried out and a bespoke upskilling programme developed. In the majority of cases, one day’s attendance at the National Training Centre will be necessary as upskilling can be provided on site.
