We’ve given two Thermal Insulation Apprentices a career boosting opportunity.
17 year old Kian McNally and Ross Graham, 20 have been taken on by TICA after they were made redundant by their former employer at the end of 2017.
The move means the pair are now directly employed by the Association and will complete their training with a variety of member companies over the next two years.
It’s not the first time TICA has employed an apprentice. In 2015, John Francis was recruited to help TICA better understand the pathway to qualifications through the apprenticeship route, getting regular feedback from him and his employer placements about his progress. Following completion of his apprenticeship John secured a job with Powertherm Contract Services.
“We’re sure there’s a bright future ahead for Kian and Ross,” explains TICA Chief Executive, Marion Marsland. “It’s very unfortunate they found themselves in the position of being jobless so soon after being taken on. As an Association we are committed to working with our members to ensure the industry train and develop a workforce who are highly skilled, so, on this occasion, it seemed a natural fit for us to step in and employ them ourselves.”
Following a two week stint at the National Training Centre in Darlington, Kian and Ross are now working on the Royal Liverpool Hospital for Western Thermal. We will keep you updated with their progress!
